1) Have you or your family ever had a dog before? If yes, was it a Golden

3) What type of puppy are you interested in?
Companion puppy? If this puppy is purchased solely as a companion, will you have
it spayed/neutered by 18 months of age? And have you read our sample
contract and do you understand and agree to the principle of “limited
registration” for companion pups? They are NOT to be used for breeding purposes
and are to be spayed/neutered.
Show/Breeding quality puppy? If you wish to purchase a conformation/breeding
quality puppy are you willing to show it or have the breeder or a handler show
it to Am or Can Ch titles? And get all necessary health
clearances before breeding and require the same of the dogs
mate? If you have intentions of breeding this dog, are you
willing to take full responsibility for all puppies produced by the dog
throughout its lifetime? And would you be willing to take
any/all of these puppies/dogs back and find another suitable home for them? And
will the companion pups be placed on a limited registration or non-breeding
agreement?
Field, Obedience or agility puppy? Would you be willing to put in the hours
training to achieve titles in these areas on this puppy?
4) Do you have a color or sex preference for your puppy?
5) Do you have any other animals in your home?
6) Who are the person/or persons responsible for the decision to purchase a new
puppy?
7) Is there anyone in your family that does not want a new puppy or is undecided
about this puppy?
8) Who is the person responsible for 50% or more of the care of the puppy?
9) Tell us a little bit about your family:
How many children and their ages.
What type of work/or work hours in a typical week. Is there someone at home
every day?
If no one were home during the day when the puppy requires
attention, would someone be able to come home at lunchtime on a regular basis to
feed/exercise the pup?
Where would the pup or dog stay during the day when no one is at
home?
10) Are you willing to take this puppy to socialization classes or puppy
kindergarten? Who in the family would be responsible for this training?
11) If you have small children are you prepared to watch them interact
with the puppy every time or crate the puppy so no harm comes to either the
child or the pup?
12) Does anyone in your family have allergies, asthma, etc?
13) Tell us a little bit about where you live:
Country, city, apartment, etc. Do you own or rent? If renting does your landlord
approve of you having a dog? Do you have a fenced area for the puppy or are you
willing to put up a run or have an area fenced in before the puppy arrives? And
if you have a swimming pool in your backyard are you prepared to take the
necessary precautions during the times you are not around to watch the pup/dog
in or around the pool? (i.e. fencing, closed gates, heavy-duty winter cover or
locked gates)
14) Are you willing to crate-train this puppy?
15) What will you do with the puppy when you are away?
16) Do you have a veterinarian already or have you contacted one for when
the puppy arrives?
17) Will you
obtain shots, rabies, license, tattoo, etc for the puppy if your
town/city ordinance dictates that you do so?
18) Are you prepared to spend the next 10-15 years caring for this puppy;
feeding, exercising, grooming, veterinary care and if need be calling the
breeder to place the dog if your situation warrants the change?
19) Will you let the breeder know of any problems that may develop with
the pup over his/her lifetime?
20) Do you or your family have any special hobbies? (boating, golf,
motorcycling, etc)
21) What will you do if this puppy chews your favorite pair of
shoes/couch/TV remote?
22) How long do you expect it to take for this puppy to be adequately
housetrained?
23) Are you prepared to have a “puppy” that weighs 60-80 pounds yet still
thinks he/she needs to be in your lap while watching TV?
24) Will you promise to TRY and send photos of the puppy, as he/she
grows up and older?
Please list two references with names, phone numbers, email, etc who we may
contact regarding your ownership of a new puppy. Also, your vet's name and phone
number would be greatly appreciated.
